New Years Eve is a favorite holiday for many. Not only because of the partying and the cheers at midnight but because it is a time to reinvent yourself and enjoy laughs with your family.
New Years Eve falls smack in the middle of winter break;for this reason it is very enjoyable because family tends to be around. New years eve is a chance for everyone to get dressed up and talk about what is to come in the following years. Abhishek Tekumulla (‘17) spends his new years eve surrounded by people that love him. Tekumulla quotes, “Usually I go to Indian Parties and all we do is talk about teachers and play ping pong” Although that is not similar to everyone else’s choice of a new years eve party he says, “We do have cheers at midnight!”
New years eve parties are also a favorite for many because of the food you can find there. At any typical party you can find, chips, meatballs, chips and salsa, cookies, and basic finger food. However Tekumulla’s parties are a little different. “We tend to just eat Indian food at any given party.”
However, New Years Eve parties are not for everyone. Maddie Luke (‘17) enjoys her New Years Eve a little different. “I dont think I will be going to any parties this New Years. My brother is coming home from college and I plan on spending my New Years Eve with my family.” Spending New Years Eve as a quiet night reflecting on the past year does not sound too bad, as long as you still have the finger food of course!
Although some choose to stay home, you can bet Mark Robbins (‘17) will not be reflecting so much during this holiday season. When asked what Robbins will be doing this New Years Eve he replied, “N/A” Whatever that means we will never know. However when asked who he will be spending these none applicable events he said his friends.
Although everyone spends their evening a little different no one can deny that it is the beginning of a new year, a chance to start over and accomplish everything they did not the following year.
