Husky Herald Reporter

Rachel’s Challenge was about a 17 year old female Senior in highschool that was enjoying her lunch on the front lawn outside the school library with a friend, while 2 boys decided to come into the school and shoot out all the anger they had built up by killing multiple students and later on killing themselves.
Rachel was always the type of girl to want to make a difference in people. She never wanted to hurt anyone, She always wanted to help.
She had a huge impact on the school after her death. Shockingly, her brother lived through it all while being right beside his 2 friends that were shot.
The presentation that came to Port Huron Northern to get the “Rachels Challenge” around the world really impacted many students by all the heartwarming stories Rachel left behind with many people.
Desiree Jemison ('15) while hugging her friends wanted to apologize for all the wrong she did with making fun of other people and even apologizing for making people hurt from things she has said.
Jemison says “This really had a huge impact on me, Made me think of all the things I did to hurt a bunch of people and I apologize”
A couple weeks later, Jemison changed the way she was towards people. The new attitude was completely different and she is really happy and content with the decision she has made.
Rachel Congdon ('17) says “I wasn't very impacted. However it was an upsetting story which did make me tear up but the way people treat me is the way I treat them and I won’t change it for anyone.”
Congdon adds “I have seen a change in myself with helping other’s just not a huge change to change me completely.”
Understanding each and every opinion on “Rachel’s Challenge” , Some were greatly affected and Some were not but everyone has an opinion on how they felt about the challenge
Rachel’s Challenge not only made an impact on Desiree and Rachel but it also made a huge impact on many students around the world without a doubt.
As Rachel would say “Lets start a chain reaction”
